April 2011 Campout Arrow Rock (Hiking)

Monday, April 25th, 2011

WOOHOO!

It’s that time again! — Time to tour Arrow Rock, Missouri.

On this campout, we will be Hiking, Cooking and Touring the Arrow Rock town and museum.

Arrow Rock is a tradition with Troop 111 and all enjoy the area as well as the town.

For full participation, the scouts will need:

  • A backpack
  • A Mess Kit
  • Regular camping gear
  • Hiking Boots
  • Spending Money for the store and museum.

We have a (short-term) future goal of attending a high-adventure base.  In preparation for that, the scouts must be accustomed to individual cooking as well as hiking.  This campout will be part of that preparation as a qualifying hike.  Scouts MUST attend one of the two qualifying hikes in order to participate in the Colorado Hiking trip in July.

This campout will only be ONE NIGHT to allow the scouts to be clean and prepared for the Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday 1-MAY-2011 at 2:00 PM.

Here is the Permission Slip for the event

Agenda:

  • 5:30 PM Friday – Assemble At St. Sabina
  • 10:00 PM Saturday – Return to St. Sabina

Leave No Trace (Human Waste)

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Over the next few meetings, we will have sessions on “Leave No Trace” principles.
One topic we will discuss at length in preparation to our high-adventure trip in 2011 is disposal of human waste.

The Leave No Trace Website has some good information on the subject.

There are a few YouTube videos discussing the subject — one of which has some slightly foul language, so please don’t be offended (the video has great information, otherwise):
